Under the direction of the Director of HR, the HR Generalist manages the employee life cycle process for all employees and temporary workers within an assigned District/Department. The HR Generalist is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management as well as serving as a consultant to managers on HR related issues. These responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring, onboarding, performance evaluation, training, discipline and separations.


Responsibilities:


  • Understand company policies and have the ability to work with managers and team members to ensure they are followed.
  • Serve as the initial point of advice, problem resolution, and facilitation in the areas of onboarding, employee relations, performance management, employee discipline, compensation and training; advises both team member and management regarding policies; research, identifies and analyzes specific concerns and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Interact daily with team members, supervisors, and management on HR-related matters. Partner with managers on performance management and mentoring conversations
  • Conduct investigations including write-ups and counseling, responsible for full cycle processes through to resolution and escalate as needed.
  • Acts as a point of escalation to solve team member concerns.
  • Provide training, support and guidance to team members and supervisors on processes and responsibilities related to people processes, procedures and documentation for employment status changes.
  • Plan and facilitate new hire orientation.
  • Assist in the development of processes related to the team member life cycle. Maintain and enhance the process(es) on an ongoing basis.
  • Manages leave of absence including FMLA, WC, LOA, reasonable accommodation(s) or any other state specific leaves.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating employee records and ensuring data integrity.
  • Responsible for maintaining LMS and providing coaching and guidance on e-training.
  • Maintains and administers the Safety and Learning HR email inboxes.
  • Collaborate with other department members to identify, design, and implement HR related projects.
  • Assist with benefit administration, employee changes, plan changes, employee communications and annual renewal process.
  • Preparation and/or coordination of required compliance materials and reporting for EEOC, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, unemployment claims, worker's compensation, etc.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ yrs of relevant HR experience required
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward professional manner
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and team members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize, organize effectively and work within deadlines
  • Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross functional teams.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal employment / wage and hour laws and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee relations procedures and applicable law

  • Demonstrated Business Acumen
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Demonstrated PC skills and MS Office skills

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development preferred, or equivalent experience

Professional Human Resources certification (PHR or SPHR) preferred
